We are done

Image
We are finally finished. Despite the problems our group has had with scheduling issues and lack of communication we are able to complete our film. Over time we had many set backs. After all of this we came together as a group and made sure it was finished. We all gave a good effort to complete the project. All three of us had our designated jabs and completed them. I was the main actor and helped with the creation of the story. Sam was the director and made the website and some of the social media. Lola was the camera person and created the postcard to represent our film after its completion. Together we worked pretty optimally on each of our respective roles an made a worthwhile film. This has been a bumpy road with many setbacks but an experience worth a lot. We learned to communicate with one another on our needs and boundaries. This gave us a sense of comradery as we completed the filming aspect of the project. The teamwork we displayed was immense in the finishing of the project

Continuing editing

Image
Finally having all of our filming done we are on to edit. First we looked at the material we had. While looking at this we compared it to the storyboard we had done before. Some of he scenes we had to change because of lighting or weather issues. So during this phase we make sure that we had enough material to complete the film. During our shooting we made sure to shoot extra in case we had less than needed. Any gaps in the film would be filled with this extra material. This allows us to stick to the original film script. Also any reshoots we have to do will be limited as we have extra material. Most of the shots came out to our liking. Though some couldn't be perfectly done as we are in school. This limits our access to greater gear. With a lack of equipment some of the shots had to be done in ways that would represent the actual film material without the actions being performed. This includes the main crash at the beginning of the film. After this though the bulk of the shots en

On to the editing

Completing the filming for my school short film project was a testament to our determination and creativity despite limited resources. Every scene was meticulously planned and executed, utilizing makeshift props and natural lighting to bring our vision to life. The collaborative effort of the team, overcoming challenges together, was evident in every frame. Now, transitioning to the editing phase, I'm eager to weave the scenes together into a cohesive narrative. Reviewing the footage, I see the potential for magic in every frame, waiting to be unlocked through editing. The editing process presents new opportunities to enhance the story, adding depth and emotion. As I meticulously piece together each shot, refining transitions and pacing, I collaborate with my team to fine-tune every detail until the story resonates just right. Despite the challenges, our passion for filmmaking has only grown stronger. With each edit, the film evolves, becoming more than just a project but a testame

We have our filming done

After a lot of delays and finally being able to film we were able to get most of our scenes completed. Though as expected some of it had to be changed. As we went to film some shots we realized something. Some shots were made out to be done with a certain lighting or angles that wouldn’t be possible. One of the shots that we were planning on doing would be a shot of me answering the phone. This would work well but we had to change locations. This was due to the lack of lighting and glare that the setting had. This made it impossible to film the shot outside. We ended up doing the shot under a shaded area so that we could see the phone and who was calling. In this case it was the boyfriend of the character of our film. Then we needed to show the conversation in a way the viewer understands what is being said. We made the conversation simple so that context isn’t particularly needed. This worked pretty well. The conversation was short but got the information we needed. This gives contex

Finally filming

After the trouble we’ve had in planning out our filming we finally are able to. Yesterday we agreed to film today. We were able to get many shots done. This includes the main shot of the car crash and some other shots. To do this we had to make the shot look as if we actually crashed the car. To try and show this we will be doing cutaway scenes and sound effects to account for the lack of actual crash. Obviously we will have to add the sound in during editing. This will be done after we have completed all of the filming for the film. As of now we have most of the shots done. This was a successful day of filming. We first went to shoot the crash. We filmed the crash scene. Then we went to get food somewhere as a break. We enjoyed our food there. Then we went back to Lola’s. After we got to Lola’s we looked at the footage. While looking at the footage some of the sound quality was bad. This led us to wanting to reshoot some shots. Then we looked over the film again. This time we were ab

Today we had plans to film after my practice. My practice was to end at around 11 and give us an opening to film afterwards. This would give us time to film the early scenes that would work in the film. Though when I came out of practice I looked at my phone and checked messages. This prompted me to look at the group chat that we share and realize that the plan to film had been canceled. We were unable to film as group members would be absent from the shooting. This sets us back a little but we had already had back up plans just in case. we planned to be able to film after school on another day if completely necessary. This is good as we are coming down to the final bits of time for our project. we should be able to make it even if it does come down to closer to the deadline than we expected. Though this isn't ideal we are definitely capable of coming through and finishing this project with the necessary material. We have already completed the other aspects of the project including

We've made our plans

As of yesterday we had not figured out what we were going to do about our filming. we had talked about filming this weekend and we had thought Saturday would work for our schedules. We had yet to get Sam's view of this though. So today we talked to Sam and confirmed she would be able to film tomorrow. I should be okay to film after practice. After my practice I will have only a little time to go home and change before having to go film our project. I am hoping to get out of practice a little early to make sure that I'm able to get home. This will give us plenty of time to get all of the shots we need completed. We should be able to get most of the film done with just the one filming session.  The rest of the shots can be spaced out between the other shooting days. It looks like we will be fine to shoot this weekend. I hope that the weather will permit it and make it easy for us to film without any trouble.  As we prepare for filming, we find ourselves eagerly hoping that timin

we've had another set back

We thought we would be able to film this Friday. This was perfect as my practice would end early and we could film after. This also worked as it didn't conflict with Lola's soccer practice. Sam also had nothing to do at the time which made it perfect. The only problem is that now i have a game scheduled for Friday. We originally had only a game for Thursday. this game ended up being canceled. this lead to us needing an extra game to fill that gap in the schedule. Our coach ended up looking for another game to fill that spot. This ended up being scheduled for Friday at 6 pm. This means we'll have to reschedule our filming time. We would film after school on Thursday but Lola's practice is getting in the way as it would be at night starting as my practice ended. We're looking for an opportunity to film this weekend that isn't Friday. This is kind of hard with all the activities we do on the weekends as well. Saturday may be possible but i have practice in the mor

We hope to film

after last time we are hopeful to film some time this weekend. We have to talk with the group and make sure this weekend works for everybody's schedule. I have practice everyday. Sam has other extracurriculars. Lola has club soccer after school. The three of us all have activities that may take up time after school and can get in the way of our filming schedule. We are hoping to be ab le to film his Friday as I only have practice and the other two will be able to film on that day as well. we are likely to film the shots of the crash and other shots needed in the house. The other shots that need to be filmed may be filmed another day. This depends on the amount of time we have.  Filming a car crash scene with minimal equipment requires careful planning and creative thinking. First, we need to consider using practical effects and camera angles to create the illusion of a crash without the need for expensive props or special effects. Utilize simple props such as cardboard cutouts or

Unable to film

The anticipation was high as you and your group geared up for filming, but it quickly gave way to disappointment when conflicting plans arose, thwarting your efforts. Despite everyone's excitement, it became evident that various commitments clashed, making it impossible to proceed with filming as scheduled. Negotiations and attempts at compromise were made, but the conflicting schedules remained unresolved. Frustration mounted as the realization sunk in that the day's plans would have to be scrapped. Despite the setback, the group remained determined to find a solution, brainstorming alternatives and considering different approaches to salvage the project. Tensions flared momentarily as emotions ran high, but the group rallied together, united in their desire to overcome the obstacle. Ideas were exchanged, and contingency plans were explored as the group worked tirelessly to find a resolution. With perseverance and determination, the group remained hopeful that a solution cou

We’re back

The time has come for my group and I to start our production process. All of the things we needed to prepare are going smoothly. We have made a complete storyboard and outlined who’s going to act in it. I will end up being the main actor as the character is a man and I am the only male person in our group. This allows us to give additional roles to anyone we’d like. This also makes it so that the main character will always be available when needed as I am in the group. The next few weeks we will be doing the bulk of the project that is remaining. We were planning to film some time before the end of the week but we were unable to come to a decision. So because of this we will be filming later this week. We should be able to get most of the shots done at this filming session. The only shots we need to do are of a car crash as well as a few shots in rooms. For the actual filming location we have decided upon Lola’s house as it meets most of our requirements for the needed filming. The on
