How does your product use or challenge convention and how does it represent social groups or issues? How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? How did your production skills develop throughout this project? How did you integrate technologies – software hardware, and online – in this project?

Final project: When all is Gone

Image
I am happy to finally be done with all the hassle that has been related to this project and am happy to see the final product. This is the culmination of a lot of work from all of the team. It has been a long time coming and we have gone through a lot of different issues through the different projects this year. It has all come to an end. All of the emotion throughout the year has finally been worth it. Through anger, happiness, stress, and frustration the media year has come to an end and i hope to see what sort of experience A level gives me.

After editing the feedback we got form others was taken into consideration. We had to reshoot two scenes and re-edit the video. The first of the scenes was a reverse scene. In this scene it was supposed to be a person looking back at the main character. As we only had one actor it was the main actor looking back at himself in a confused way. This shows the characters descent in mental state as he realizes no one else is left. Being left alone has given the character delusion of other people. Which in this scene is represented in his own face. We filmed this scene in the same place as the rest. We needed this shot in the film and felt it worked as a transition in the film. This was one of the things that the viewers of the rough draft had told us about. This was a concern as we wanted the film to flow between scenes. The shot ended up turning out well. The next scene we re-filmed was a POV shot of the main character looking outside to realize that no one is there. This shows the evolut

The video has been completed and its looking good. Brianna was able to complete the editing and made sure to include the things we told her to. As of now the project is completed but i have shown it to my parents and they had some adjustments to make. My dad and mom watched it with me and enjoyed the video. They said that it was good and for a first draft was done well. They did have some minor tweaks to add though. The first being that the transitions were somewhat choppy. This can be fixed and i will let Brianna know about it. This specific problem has more to do with the editing than the actual video so it can be fixed pretty smoothly. The next thing they said was it seemed like the music didn't line up correctly. This is also something that can be fixed with a re-edit. I shouldn't be too much of an issue as we just have to line up the start of the music better with the scene. Another thing they said was the story didn't seem completely cohesive. It had to deal with the

Editing

As Sean and I were the ones to film we were to direct the editing process. Brianna was set to edit as she had to do something in our group. Her absence from filming meant we had to change many of the shots to fit only one actor. I played the role and filled in for Brianna who was meant to be the lead. When she went to edit Sean and I had to tell her what it was supposed to look like all together. We told her the music we were going to use as well as the place it was meant to start in the video. We were able to email the owners of the music for the rights to use it and found out it was not substance to licensing. We were able to get it and so we put it over the sequence of many shots. It starts after the main character gets up from bed and realizes he is late. As it goes on the character looks confused and searches the house for others. All of this is happening as he continues his morning routine. The editing will piece together these shots with the different title sequence parts. The

Finally filming

After all of the issues we've had to deal with we were finally able to film. We had made plans to film the weekend after not having a chance to during the week. We planned to have one of our other classmates help fill in the role of the main character as Brianna was still unable to film. The only problem was no one ended up being available. We had to scratch the idea of them helping and ended up with me as the main character. The switch in gears has been a backup plan for us and we are glad it worked out in the end. On Sunday at 12:00 PM Sean came to pick me up from my house and we headed back to his place to film. The setting of our project was his house and neighborhood which helped as we had access to it at any time. Once there Sean took out his camera and we got to filming. As our film is set in a world void of people besides the main character we had to make sure no one else could be seen. This meant having his parents move about to not be in the way. the graciously complied
