How to make a short film

 The video "How to make a short film" by film riot will act as a helpful tool. This video gives our group a good sense of what well need to do in creating our short film. Most of this is in the preparation and setup that allows the story to come through within the short amount of time. It says not to write something that wont fit the resources that are available to us. Our short film should be written having in mind the actors as well as the access to equipment we have. We would not be able to perform huge cgi shots or anything from the sky as we don't have the equipment for it and we should plan accordingly. Another important aspect of the film that we should focus on is tone. The video goes over tone as it relates to camera positioning as well as lighting and setting. The tone should be appropriate throughout or else it will lose legitimacy. as for the casting when it comes to this video it says to make sure to get out of them what is needed and we will have to take this into consideration having the limited access to actors as we do. Much of the cast will be made up of the group that we have as is. One thing of productive importance is the sound and the video makes clear the importance of knowing the equipment we have and planning the script and dialogue accordingly. This part of the video will be a big point in our process as we only really have access to our phones for microphones. we will have to make sure the sound that we do get is done in a considerate manner that makes for quality sound. a big part of our takeaway from the video is its realism. the biggest thing is the ability to pull something off. It makes a big point in saying to not go overboard with things you're unable to pull off. Restricting time budget and equipment make so that half done things take away from the entire experience. We will only take on what we think we will be capable of. As a part of our process looking back on this video as a guideline will be helpful. It will act as a realistic view on our abilities and make sure we don't get over our heads with impossible tasks. It will also help us keep in mind the pacing of the story that is important to a short stories execution as bad pacing takes away from the overall story. Overall this video will be helpful in our creative process and will be used as a guideline for our future film.
