Group blog: Second take

 This is Jack back again for an exciting new year of media studies. This year is looking to be even better than the last. As the start to the final project was coming I had to find myself a group. Last year there were so many things that went awry from the plans we had set. All of this was most significantly due to the chemistry we had in our group. Much of the issues cold have been fixed with better communication and group management. Many times were stressful because of the lack of participation by group members. times were tough because of the lack of compatibility the team had. This year I would like to correct my mistakes. So in that thought I decided to have a fresh start. This year I will be teaming up with brand new people that I have much more trust in the abilities of. The group will consist of Samantha, Lola and I. This team allows us to have separate but important roles that will let us get much more done. As a group we have much more strengths than weaknesses. As a collaborative assignment having a string sense of teamwork will help us complete it with a lot less hassle. Lola is able to drive and is pretty good at coming up with storylines that will be helpful in the creation of the plot. Samantha is very good at editing and will be much help in the postproduction aspect of the filming. I will be able to help as an actor and as a director of the film and as a group we will be able to complete the project well. This is looking to be a good year. I hope everything goes according to plan.

 The video "How to make a short film" by film riot will act as a helpful tool. This video gives our group a good sense of what well need to do in creating our short film. Most of this is in the preparation and setup that allows the story to come through within the short amount of time. It says not to write something that wont fit the resources that are available to us. Our short film should be written having in mind the actors as well as the access to equipment we have. We would not be able to perform huge cgi shots or anything from the sky as we don't have the equipment for it and we should plan accordingly. Production delay

 Our group has made plans to film in the future as we experienced some scheduling setbacks. The last few weeks have been difficult as we have had less face to face time to make plans for our production. There has been religious holidays as well as unexpected early release days. The main scheduling conflicts lies in the hurricane that hit Florida last week. The hurricanes impact on Florida left us without school and personally left me without access to power during parts of those days. The hurricane made my parents more vigilant over my movement outside of the home which made it nearly impossible to meet up. We had no choice but to wait for another opportunity. The weekend came and went and we had yet to communicate on a day to meet. We met during our class this week and decided to meet in the near future. The timing didn't align for us with our afterschool activities so we could not meet up during the week.
